Job Purpose
The Marketing & Communications Officer will lead the development and execution of Learnly Africa’s two-year digital skills and employability program.
The role will focus on building visibility, increasing program awareness, managing digital channels, and supporting documentation of impact stories and program results. The Officer will work closely with program teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy & Planning

Develop and implement the program’s communication and marketing strategy.

Create annual communication plans aligned with program goals.

Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication outputs.

Support the program team in designing communication approaches for activities and events.
Content Creation & Storytelling

Develop high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content
-
Document program activities, success stories, and the impact on beneficiaries.

Coordinate photography, videography, and digital storytelling.
Digital Marketing & Social Media Management

Manage the program’s social media accounts and plan weekly content calendars.

Grow online engagement and audience through targeted digital campaigns.

Track digital analytics and adjust strategy to increase reach and engagement.

Manage website content updates to ensure accurate and current information.
Branding & Visibility

Ensure all communication materials comply with the organization’s branding guidelines.

Coordinate the development of branded materials.

Support partners and program teams to maintain consistent visibility standards.
Media Relations & Public Engagement

Develop and maintain relationships with media houses, journalists, and influencers.

Organize press briefings, interviews, and media coverage for key program activities.

Track media mentions and prepare media monitoring reports.

Draft key messages, speeches, talking points, and FAQs for program leadership.
Event Coordination & Support

Support the planning and execution of events, trainings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.

Oversee branding, documentation, and communication outputs during events.

Manage post-event reports and communication follow-ups.
Internal Communications

Prepare communication briefs and updates for internal teams and partners.

Support the development of quarterly or biannual program reports.

Ensure effective knowledge-sharing and alignment within the program team.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or digital media.

Experience working in programs, NGOs, corporate communications, or development projects is an added advantage.

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

Proficiency in social media management tools and digital analytics.

Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent).

Excellent photography and video production skills are an added asset.
