Job Title: Safeguarding Specialist
Reports To: Learnly Africa Leadership
Contract Type: Full-Time (24 Months)

Location: Hybrid — Remote + Field presence in Kilifi, Kisumu, and Timau

Salary Range: KES. 60,000 - 80,000 Gross

Job Purpose

​

The Safeguarding Consultant will provide technical expertise to ensure that all program activities uphold the highest safeguarding standards. This includes training staff and participants, establishing safeguarding systems, monitoring compliance, and responding to safeguarding concerns.

Key Responsibilities

 

The Safeguarding Consultant will provide technical expertise to ensure that all program activities uphold the highest safeguarding standards. This includes training staff and participants, establishing safeguarding systems, monitoring compliance, and responding to safeguarding concerns.

​

Safeguarding Systems & Compliance

​

  • Develop, review, and strengthen safeguarding policies, SOPs, and reporting mechanisms.

  • Conduct safeguarding risk assessments for program sites and activities.

  • Monitor compliance across all hubs and provide recommendations for improvement.

​

Training & Capacity Building

​

  • Train program staff, instructors, and field teams on safeguarding principles, reporting, and ethical behavior.

  • Facilitate safeguarding awareness sessions for program participants.

  • Support the integration of trauma-informed and gender-sensitive approaches in program delivery.

​

Case Management & Response

​

  • Serve as the focal point for receiving and managing safeguarding reports.

  • Conduct or oversee investigations of safeguarding concerns.

  • Provide guidance, referrals, and follow-up support for affected individuals.

​

Monitoring & Reporting

​

  • Conduct regular hub visits and monitoring checks.

  • Prepare monthly safeguarding reports for Learnly Africa leadership.

  • Advise on continuous improvement measures to maintain safe environments.

​

Qualifications & Experience

​

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Gender Studies, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in safeguarding, child protection, or gender-based violence response.

  • Experience conducting investigations and managing sensitive cases.

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and safe programming.
